*Students MUST first start the UWL study abroad application
process. Students can ONLY start an application at a school
in the state of Hessen once they have been placed.
Exchange students going to Germany will NOT need to apply for
a visa before departure, but upon arrival in Germany. Once in Germany, students
need to apply for a Residence Permit.
UWL DOES NOT arrange student visas. Students are required to independently
arrange for their student visa and need to be aware that this is a TIME SENSITIVE
requirement that will include an additional out-of-pocket cost. Get more information
about traveling to Germany, including information about visa/residence permit, @ Travel.State.Gov-Germany or @ Frankfurt University Before Arrival webpage.
Students who are interested in studying abroad, but do not meet eligibility
requirements, are encouraged to make an appointment with a study abroad
advisor. We will assess each situation on a case-by-case basis.
Most courses are taught in German. However, more and more institutions
are offering classes in English. For an updated list, check out each school
