Program Description:
OVERVIEW
Hansung International Summer School (HISS) Korean studies program is full of instructive classroom lectures combined with hands-on activities in which students can learn the genuine aspect of Korea, having fun, building life-long friendship with fellow students from all over the world.  Language of Instruction is English (All classes including Korean Language and Cultural Activities).  UWL and Hansung University are exchange partners and are able to offer this unique summer experience as part of our exchange agreement.

HOW IT WORKS
  1. Meet with a UWL Study Abroad Advisor
  2. Meet with your academic advisor to discuss courses
  3. Complete the study abroad application process*
  4. Pay UWL tuition
  5. Pay housing, and meals to the host institution abroad
  6. Spend your summer immersing yourself in the Korean culture!

U.S. students entering South Korea on summer programs for
less than 90 days can enter the country with just their U.S. passports.

LODGING AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Housing. Students will be housed in dorms (double or triple).

Cultural Activities. Hands-on cultural activities and field trips are
offered everyday. Additionally, campus is close to Hansung subway
station, which is just a few minutes ride to the heart of Seoul.

Students will also experiencing Korean cuisine as part of the program.
More than 30 meals are provided.

Hansung Buddy. Program buddies will always be there to help you
learn and live in Korea. They are Korean students, and
your guide and friends, who will make your life in Korea full of fun and happy memories.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM
 
  • Korean Language (1 Credit)
  • Korean Studies (3 Credits, taught in English) 
Certificate of Completion is awarded to the student who
complete the program with perfect attendance. Official transcripts
will be sent to the students' home university after the program.

ELIGIBILITY
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Sophomore status at start of program
  • Good academic standing
  • Good disciplinary record on campus 
Students who are interested in studying abroad, but do not meet eligibility
requirements, are encouraged to make an appointment with a study abroad
advisor. We will assess each situation on a case-by-case basis.
*Students need to first start the UWL study abroad application process. Students can ONLY start the Hansung University application process after our office nominates students. 
** UWL doesn't arrange student visas. Students are required to independently arrange for their student visa and need to be aware that this is a time sensitive requirement that will include an additional out-of-pocket cost. For more information visit Travel.State.Gov.
 
FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Estimated program fee will be based on the cost of 4 UWL credits. Final program cost will be received during Pre-departure Orientation. Please refer to the Summer Budget Sheet at the top of this online brochure.
