Why Stirling??
HOW IT WORKS
  1. Meet with a Study Abroad Advisor
  2. Meet with your academic advisor to discuss courses
  3. Complete the study abroad application process*
  4. Pay UWL resident tuition (Exchange) or Stirling's Tuition (direct enroll).
  5. Pay housing and meals to the host institution abroad
  6. Spend your semester or academic year in Scotland!
*Students MUST first start the UWL study abroad application
process. Students can ONLY start the University of Stirling application
process after our office nominates students.

Exchange vs. Direct Enroll: Exchange programs are very competitive and
placements are limited. However, students who are not offered an
exchange placement can still participate in this program as a direct enroll
student. This means that students will be billed University of Stirling's
tuition rather than UWL resident tuition.
VISA INFORMATION
Students studying abroad for 1 semester will NOT need to apply for a student visa prior to
departure. However, they will need to provide required documentation in order to
receive their student visa upon entering the UK. Students participating in an academic
year ARE required to apply for a visa before departure. Get more information about
students visa @ GOV.UK and traveling to the UK @ Travel.State.Gov-UK. You can also find
for information about student visa @ Stirling Visa Information webpage.

NOTE: UWL DOES NOT arrange student visas. Students are required to independently
arrange for their student visa and need to be aware that this is a time sensitive
requirement that will include an additional out-of-pocket cost.
