What's Included
CEA offers a wide variety of services and amenities, Below is a list of what is included in your program price.
This hybrid program is designed for students of all language levels who wish to focus on improving their language skills while gaining an education in Spanish culture. You can combine intensive language instruction from the University of Barcelona's Estudios Hispánicos Department -- specializing in language learning for the study abroad student -- with liberal arts and social science electives from the CEA Barcelona Center.
Barcelona's medieval charm, as exemplified by the Gothic Quarter, is juxtaposed with stylish, modern streets and sprinkled with Gaudi's stunning architectural creations, offering a unique international experience. Spain's second largest city and CEA's most popular destination, Barcelona provides a window into the geo-and sociopolitical systems that have defined Spain and its current autonomous regions, including Catalonia, for centuries. In recent years, an influx of immigrants from Asia, Africa, and South America have transformed Barcelona into a center of multiculturalism.
As a student with CEA, you'll engage in Barcelona's history and culture through your exploration of the works of Picasso, Dalí, and Miró. See firsthand what makes this city a catalyst for art, music, and visual cultures through its contrasting styles of architecture, from medieval Gothic cathedrals to Gaudi's surrealist buildings. In your spare time, wander the outdoor markets along Las Ramblas, the city's famous tree-lined promenade, or enjoy traditional paella at one of the many restaurants by the sea.
